I originally intended to purchase the OEM brand filter but the price difference (approx 3x the price) made me look at this one. It's a perfect fit, it seems to wick water well, and it has a metal mesh exterior that holds it's shape. If you are on the fence because this filter is not made by Essick or Kenmore don't be, this one works fine.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase these off brand filters for my humidifier at first but I am glad I did. They are far and away better than the Sears brand I was using and are much more reasonably priced. The Sears brand would start to sag after a couple of weeks and then shortly fall apart. These filters have a metal mesh on the outside which provides enough rigidity to keep them locked in place and from falling apart. Overall, I think these are well made filters and do an excellent job.

Originally I was pleased that this wick filter has the metal "cage" on the exterior, assuring that it doesn't droop in my humidifier. But after a month or so it began to disintegrate. My water always looked nasty, and I was having to wash the unit frequently as a result. It was gross, and a complete nuisance. (If it is helpful to anyone, we have soft water)
