Not at all similar to my original cartridge. When I purchased my Cigar Oasis unit, I had to contact the company to get my first cartridge, as the box did not contain it for some reason. What the manufacturer shipped me was a sealed black brick with two ports for in/outflow into the cigar oasis unit. Their brick was pre-charged with PG solution and kept my cigars perfectly for a long time.
This unit was not in sealed packaging, and contains a large hole in the middle exposing some green humidifier foam, which looks like floral foam you might buy at a craft supply store. It was not pre-charged.with anything. It also appeared to have tool marks around the enclosure like it had been refurbished at some point.
The only reason I'm not giving it one star is because I broke down and used it instead of sending it back and dealing with the hassle of shipping - and it APPEARS to be working alright after receiving a charge of distilled water. The bottom line: at this price point you might as well go to the manufacturer.

As advertised, my cartridges old cartridges needed replacing, this work perfectly. Humidity, has improved over the old cartridges. Highly recommend.
