Before installing this, I was filling my portable humidifier every day, but the humidity in my house (1,425 sq ft) was around 16%. Now it's around 35%, which is lower than I'd like, but due to the cold temperatures outside, if I raise it any higher I get major condensation on the windows. My furnace is in a small closet with limited access, so it took me nearly 4 hours to install. If the furnace was in an open area (like a basement), I could have installed it in about 2 hours. It's not hard to install, it's just a pain cutting through the metal ducting.
Note: This only comes with the humidistat and the transformer, so you'll either need to also buy the install kit or purchase everything else separately. Since my furnace required the sail switch, I just bought the install kit.
A few notes/recommendations:
1. The cutout template for the humidifier is on the actual instructions. My humidifier also came with the instructions for HE260A, so make sure you don't use that template.
2. The instructions that come with the humidifier are terrible. The instructions that come with the install kit are good. If you choose to not buy the install kit and purchase the parts yourself (and save $20-$30), get the instructions that come with the install kit at [...].
3. Even if you have a smaller house like mine, if your ducting is large enough (mine wasn't), spend $15 more and get the HE260A. My house is insulated very well, so the furnace doesn't run much. The HE260A will get more water in the air in a shorter amount of time.

Make sure to buy the installation kit. This kit is more for the do-it-yourself kind of person. It took me about 2-3 hours to install, wasn't too hard. My house used to have less then %15 humidity in the winter, now I'm always at %50. My house is about 1900sq ft. It makes the winters much more comfortable.

One of the best purchases I've ever made. I had this unit professionally install two weeks ago. The day after it was installed the humidity level in my house had risen from a very uncomfortable 15% to an extremely pleasant 50%.
I stopped get nose bleeds, my skin stopped itching, my hair looks fuller, and my dog stopped chewing on her back side, her hair has even grown back. Also, my hardwood flooring was getting gaps in it from drying out, that too has reversed.
This humidifier has done more to improve the comfort level in my house than the central air conditioner I bought this summer.
