I got this instead of a saddle valve as I was concerned about reliability. While there is more work than a saddle valve (cutting pipe), it is top notch quality and should never fail. I could not be happier and I have a great piece of mind that I did it right the first time and won't have to ever think about replacing this. This item has a very good quality to it and a plumber who saw it thought it was impressive.

Great valve. I used it to hook up my ice maker in my refrigerator. This valve works a 1000 times better than the pierce type, saddle valve you buy at Home Depot or Lowes. It make take a little more eoffort to install but the flow is much better. As with most things in life, the quick hits are ususally filled with compromises. Get this valve and do the job right the first time.

The saddle valve that I was using for my reverse osmosis unit was on its last legs and difficult to screw open or shut. After cutting out the required length of the supply line, I had no problem or issues with installation. No leaks, if that needs to be said.
